Glossolalia, Spirit Baptism and Pentecostals: Revisiting the Book of Acts

Abstract

Nel returns to Acts in reply to the critical study published earlier the same year, defending a Pentecostal reading of Spirit baptism and the place of glossolalia within it. He revisits the classic texts — Acts 2, 8, 10 and 19 — and asks what the narrative can and cannot be made to bear. This is the second half of a published exchange; the article it answers is also in this section, and the two are best read together.
