Pentecostal Spirituality and its Relationship with Academic Theological Formation

Faith is the starting point for theological work. It is through faith that the study of the eternal Queen of the sciences develops. When studying a Being who is infinite, finite and often limited resources are used.
From the perspective of Pentecostal spirituality, which primarily emphasizes spiritual experience, a quite distinctive theology is adopted. Arising at the beginning of the 20th century, the Pentecostal movement presents a focus on spiritual experience, recovering the various gifts mentioned in the Bible, just as occurred during the period of the early Church.
In this way, the paradigm that theology cools the believer, transforming them into someone with only theoretical baggage who denies the supernatural, is broken. This occurred with the advent of theological liberalism, which originated from rationalism in modernity.
Therefore, Pentecostal spirituality emerged by bringing life to theology, making it not only an object of theoretical study but also an experiential one, equipping believers for missionary work with the help of God’s supernatural action, especially through baptism in the Holy Spirit.
