Understanding the Doctrine of the Holy Spirit in Brazilian Pentecostalism

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. This does not indicate a hierarchical position, given that God is a triune being, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—distinct persons but sharing the same divine nature. He is the Comforter, sent by Jesus to dwell in all who believe and to guide them into all truth.
From the moment an individual accepts Jesus as their Savior, they are sealed by the Holy Spirit, who regenerates and sanctifies them and continues working in the process of salvation until its consummation in glorification. However, Pentecostal pneumatology emphasizes baptism with (or in) the Holy Spirit. This is of a charismatic nature, meaning it places emphasis on the supernatural, recovering the manifestation of spiritual gifts.
Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a hallmark of Brazilian Pentecostalism. Through this experience, the believer receives a spiritual empowerment that enables them to engage in missionary service more boldly and to proclaim the Gospel more effectively. However, it must be sought with faith and perseverance.
Thus, the vast growth of the Pentecostal movement on Brazilian soil is notable, thanks to the moving of the Spirit. This movement is the driving force that propels the expansion of God’s Kingdom. Furthermore, a vibrant faith is experienced in the light of the Holy Scriptures, especially in the books of Luke-Acts.
